The fourth of July. It’s synonymous with freedom and independence, our country’s celebration of everything that it means to be American. But what does it mean for writers?
This month, we’ll be discussing freedom in all its forms. Freedom of speech. Freedom from gatekeepers. Freedom to pursue our creative endeavors in whatever way we wish. Even how to get books into libraries, where readers can borrow them for free.
We have some new and returning contributors this month, including the Gayle Carline, Elizabeth Conte, Jeff Lyons, and Jeff Michaels. You won’t want to miss a single post.
Weekly Blog Post Digest
To that end, we’ve decided to make a slight change in our newsletter policy. In addition to our once-a-month newsletter, subscribers will now have the option to receive a weekly digest of the latest blog posts from the O.C. Writers website. Current subscribers will automatically be opted into the new list, but you can easily change your subscription preferences at any time. Just click the “update your preferences” link at the bottom of the next newsletter. If you have any issues, please feel free to email Megan@ocwriters.network.
We’re thrilled to once again offer a $25 discount off full conference admission to the Southern California Writers’ Conference in Irvine this September. All current subscribers will receive the discount code in the next newsletter. If you’re not already a subscriber, why not? Join here and get your discount code today.

Legend has it, I was born with a book in my hands. Thirty-ish years later, I’m a stay-at-home-mom who prefers a good story over doing the dishes. Only now, I’m building my own fantasy worlds! I’m the author of the Amazon best selling series,The Sanyare Chronicles, and Program Director of O.C. Writers. You can find me on my website at www.meganhaskell.com, Facebook, and Twitter.
